Cockroach Control Southbank
Dawson’s attends an apartment with a German Cockroach infestation in Southbank
Dawson’s attended a vacant apartment in Southbank after the real-estate agents reported a cockroach infestation. Upon inspection, Dawson’s identified an extensive population of German Cockroaches (Blattella Germanica spp.) which would require immediate professional cockroach control.
About German Cockroaches
German cockroaches are often found to be a major problems in restaurants, commercial kitchens, cafes, pubs, and also in our homes. These creatures are prolific breeders and have the ability to live in ovens and refrigerators. They can fit in the smallest cracks and crevices of your home as they are a rather small species of cockroach, with nymphs (young insects) ranging from the size of a pinhead to adults german cockroaches being measured up to 15–25 mm long.
Why are these ones out during the day?
Cockroaches are typically nocturnal, so the few cockroaches you may see by day likely means they were forced out by overcrowding; a probable sign of severe levels of infestation.
Normally, German Cockroaches will exist around areas that can provide them with shelter and warmth, such as fridges, ovens, sinks, and other appliances. In this case, the populations in these areas had grown so large that the cockroaches were forced into far less suitable areas, as pictured in the cornices, and above blinds. For this to happen, a population must be very large and extensive.
Solution: Cockroach Control Treatment and Further Inspections
In cases like this, it is also very likely that cockroaches will have infested the apartments that share walls with this one. We strongly recommended an inspection of these other apartments to determine how far the infestation had moved.
We conducted a thorough cockroach treatment on this apartment, but when a German cockroach infestation reaches this level, it is practically impossible to control with only a single visit, meaning it can be very costly for the real estate agents.
The apartment will be revisited, and re-evaluated after a period of 30 days, to assess whether a secondary cockroach control treatment is necessary.
